Diamond actively recruits and keeps the best ICT brains in the market. Our staff are recognised industry leaders, innovators and all round impressive people who all have great stories to share.
We’d like you to meet our Graduate Software Developer– Giang Pham.
1. What is your role at Diamond?
I am a Graduate Software Developer, my primary duties are building, customising and testing software and applications. Diamond has plenty of room for me to grow my technical skills and to expose my personal attributes.
2. What do you like most about working at Diamond?
The people, the culture and the working style. I remember my first day at Diamond and I was sitting in reception waiting for my manager and everybody that walked past me asked.. “Have you got anyone sorting things out for you?” Diamond’s people are very friendly and everybody gets to know each other very well.
3. Why did you choose to enter the field?
My dream has always been becoming a software developer and a system engineer. I did some Pascal programming at high school but I really entered the field when I was 18. 2 years of study in Information Systems Engineering at the University of Information Technology (a member of Vietnam National University in HCMC) inspired me to explore the IT field even more. One of the things that I like the most about IT in general and in programming in particular is that I can take this conditional statement:
If (plan A is feasible) Then
Think about plan B
And then apply it to the real world use cases.
I have found that this kind of logic can also help sometimes in my real life also!
4. If you could meet anyone, living or dead who would you choose?
Living: Bill Gates – I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it.
Dead: Nelson Mandela
5. People would be surprised to know…
I love playing billiards, especially the 8-balls billiards game. If you need an instructor in billiards, I sure can help you out with this! I also enjoy playing soccer. I was a bit shocked when I first came here because everybody seems to love rugby league and cricket more than soccer – I’m a striker and a defender. I used to ride motorbike in my home country as well but here driving a car seems more practical and reasonable, especially when it’s wet.
